Overview

Built for urban commuting and family travel, the BYD Sealion 5 is a smart compact SUV offered in DM-i plug-in hybrid and pure-electric versions. Measuring 4620×1860×1630mm with a long 2770mm wheelbase, it delivers class-leading rear-seat space and a spacious, well-proportioned cabin for five adults. With a tight 5.25m turning radius, it is highly agile for city streets, family trips and long-distance driving alike. The SUV-exclusive chassis, LED lighting and DiLink smart cockpit combine style with everyday practicality.

Powertrain & Fuel Economy

DM-i Plug-in Hybrid — Adopting BYD’s fifth-generation DM-i super hybrid system, it pairs a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine (101Ps/74kW/126N·m) with a front-mounted 120kW (163Ps) electric motor through an E-CVT. Acceleration reaches 0-100km/h in 8.4-8.6 seconds with a top speed of 175km/h. With the Blade LFP battery, it offers CLTC pure-electric ranges of 220km or 305km, and combined range up to 2105km. WLTC blended fuel consumption is as low as 0.58L/100km, with charge-depletion consumption of 3.1-3.2L/100km (NEDC) — exceptional economy for daily commutes and long trips. DC fast charging completes 30%-80% in just 16-18.5 minutes.

Pure Electric EV — Built on BYD’s e-platform 3.0 Evo with a rear-mounted drive motor (200kW for the 540km version, 240kW for the 630km version), it accelerates from 0-100km/h in 6.6s or 5.9s respectively, with a top speed of 190km/h. Equipped with the second-generation Blade Battery (LFP), CLTC range reaches 540km or 630km. The advanced flash-charging technology charges from 10% to 97% in about 9 minutes, drastically reducing charging wait times for long journeys.

Intelligent Driving System

The Sealion 5 is equipped with an L2-level (DiPilot) intelligent driving assistance system; higher trims feature DiPilot 100/DiPilot 300 with up to 11 cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars, 3 millimeter-wave radars and optional LiDAR.
Available functions cover full-speed adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane keeping and centering assist, traffic-sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring and automatic/remote parking. The EV flagship further benefits from DiPilot C high-end assistance (God’s Eye C). Together with 360° panoramic imaging, front/rear parking radar, hill-start assist, TPMS and ESC, the assistance suite improves safety and reduces driver fatigue for both city and highway driving.
